Thanks for the reply and the clarification. I totally understand all the reasons you’ve provided. I just wasn’t clear on what the terms of the “non-refundable deposit” were. As I said, fair enough if I cancel my booking.

Hi Allison, to clarify, deposits WILL be refunded if the event does not go ahead, but not if you just change your mind about attending.

Alison, unfortunately we can’t set prices until we have a firm idea what guests we have coming because we need to make sure we can cover our costs.

The reasons behind a minimal deposit, and I think Em answered beautifully are:

1) It gives us an idea of likely numbers to budget on,
2) It helps BOBW with the costs of getting the event organised

This is unfortunate news. Both my sons have been keenly waiting for dates, etc to be confirmed for quite some time now. For us personally, news of prices was key information that took way too long to be released. I’m sure they’d be keen to attend a postponed event. However, I don’t like the idea of a “minimal non-refundable deposit” if that means I’m going to be penalised because not enough people wanted to go. Fair enough if I cancel my booking.

I can’t speak for BOBW but there are always costs that have to be paid up front before an event takes place, eg, they have to pay for flights for guests and stuff so I imagine that has something to do with it. If enough money doesn’t come in from ticket sales well before the event, they have no money to pay for all the advance costs.

Just a guess, but it makes a lot of sense

Sorry to hear the July event has been postponed – was looking forward to coming.

How will this help the event btw – just a question here, not sounding mean or anything
One more thing – will Erin Chambers still be at this event if it does happen in November, cause thats the reason I wanted to go?
